You know those day where all you crave is chocolate? I had one of those days today. I wanted something creamy and chocolaty.
All I had at home though was some avocados, raw cocoa powder and almond butter. I tell you the ultimate combination of healthy and delicious ingredients that make up a rich and fluffy mousse to satisfy the need of chocolate :))
This indulgent dessert is simply amazing! It is raw - vegan - free of diary, gluten or sugar. Of course, feel free to sweeten with agave sirup or honey. Healthy dessert are the best way to indulge and enjoy delicious foods without feeling too guilty!
Another great thing about the recipe is that it is practically fool proof. No need to cook, just chuck everything in your blender and mix until creamy.
As you know avos are my favourite fruit. The avocado is rich in healthy fat and gives this mousse a nicely creamy but fluffy texture. Make sure that you blend long enough until everything is well combined. If you are scared of the avocado taste in you mousse, don't worry! It completely blends in with with the cocoa and almond butter.
I used raw cacao powder as contains essential antioxidants and is seen as a source for magnesium and other amazing nutrients which help to prevent cardiovascular disease and cancer.
This healthy avocado chocolate mousse was the perfect treat to satisfy my chocolate craving :)
Try some dairy free coconut whipped cream -it perfectly balances the rich texture of the choco fluff! I got a bit experimental and topped the mousse with that nice dairy free whipped cream! You practically use full fat coconut cream and whip it like dairy. It works the same way just let the coconut cream chill in the fridge and scoop off the creamy top of the coconut milk and leaving the liquid behind and beat in mixer until creamy.
ALL YOU NEED:
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1 tbsp nut butter (I used almond butter)
- 2 tbsp raw cocoa powder
- pinch of sea salt
- chia seeds, for topping
- full fat coconut cream
THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT:
- Put all ingredients in your blender
- Add some agave sirup or honey of your choice if you like it sweeter
- And pulse until well combined.
Now, the coco whip!
- Chill coconut cream in fridge over night, open and scoop off the creamy top
- Place cream in your chilled mixing bowl.
- Beat with a mixer until creamy
- Top it onto your chocolate mousse, sprinkle with chia seeds and indulge!
