Good morning, everyone!
I am starting a little challenge - a week of o n l y GREENS.
I had an OVER indulgent Easter and a row of self-excusing "cheat days" where I clearly did not eat super 100% healthy. Okay, let be honest I guess it was maybe 20% healthy.. or 10% hahah.. I think you get it ;) I was super tempted by all naughty Easter chocolates and also while travelling where I overate on sweets and did not listen to the needs of my body :/
Green Spring Cleanse
Similar to the need to as you feel you need to cleanse your house or apartment after a long and dark winter I felt the urge to clean my body too. Remember, your body is like the home where you live in! So, be good, care and work for it. If you are cleaning and nourishing it from the inside, it will naturally shine through.
Oh, summer is knocking on the door! So, in order to get the naughty stuff cleansed out of my system and of course to get back in shape, I decided for an cleansing week of greens. I will try to eat as many green veggies and fruits as possible. As I LOVE avocado I am surely not starving :)
Green vegetables and fruit contain a lot of chlorophyll which helps the body to fight toxins while alkalising the body. They are rich in Minerals and Vitamins. Chlorophyll is the life-force of plants. As you ingest it, you'll take on its vibrational energy. It will help your body cells to get rid of heavy metals and give you an energy boost to carry on the day with more clarity and zest.
This Green Spring Cleanse will help you get rid of toxins and excessive pounds.
So, the following days I will post some of my cleansing green dishes. Join me for my recipes - kicking off with #1.
The Detox Team
Parsley: A powerful detoxifier, parsley aids digestion, removes toxins from the body, acts as a diuretic by flushing out the kidneys, and purifies the blood. It contains vitamin A, C, and E, folate, iron, and anti-oxidants.
Lemon: Extremely alkaline, are high in vitamin C, and traces of calcium, potassium, and magnesium. Lemons are a powerful detoxifying agent. They support liver function, purify the blood, destroy free radicals and toxins, flush out bacteria, fight wrinkles and rejuvenate skin. Great for long-term weight loss.
Celery: Very alkaline, full of calcium, magnesium, and potassium. Good source of B1, B2, B6, and C vitamins, folate, iron, and amino acids. Celery helps to lower high blood pressure and reduce puffiness. It contains compounds polyacetylene and pthalides which reduce inflammation and stress (causing blood vessels to dilate), respectively. Celery is a powerful detoxifier and colon cleanser.
Spinach These leafy greens are both great sources of amino acids (protein), calcium, beta carotene (vitamin A), vitamin K, iron, manganese, magnesium, zinc, folate, and selenium. All around super foods, spinach is great for strengthening the body, creating beautiful skin, boosting the immune system, and providing important antioxidants. It is full of fiber which is great for cleansing the colon!
Watercress: This is a good skin detoxifier. It’s rich in sulfur, which aids protein absorption, blood purification, cell building, and promotes healthy skin and hair. You can add watercress to freshly prepared smoothies to detox and boost clear skin.
