this has been a warm summer in Europe!
I hope you have had a great vacation so far! I have another new and healthy recipe for you that will cool you off and keep you hydrating and detox your body during hot summer days.
Fast, fresh, simple.
Watermelon, cucumber, lime and mint
I am a person who is little impatient. Therefore, I love recipe quickies like this one. You don't want to wait forever, especially when you are hot and thirsty. ALL YOU NEED is four ingredients, one blender and three minutes. That's all.
M y m a g i c W a t e r m e l o n.
I’m so crazy about watermelon at the moment and this recipe is pure perfection!
My Natural Pink Slush Ice Cooler is super refreshing! It has practically no calories but necessary minerals that keep our bodies hydrated in summer times. The freshly squeezed lime juices and fresh mint leaves adds a nice tanginess. The cucumber goes well with the watermelon as they are both vegetable/fruit having high water contents.
The slushie is so healthy too as it keeps your digestion on fire. Watermelons have magic laxative properties. Cucumbers are good fore your skin.
Make sure to have this watermelon slushie before your 'normal' food. Ideally in the morning to keep your digestive system going. If you have missed my post about healthy ideal food sequence you can read it here or below.
A natural home remedy for constipation.
Who would have thought, right?
In summer, the first thing I like to have a few slices of watermelon on an empty stomach before my normal breakfast. It works wonders if you are constipated as it works wonders making you go to the toilet :) trust me!
Healthy digestion by the correct sequence.
Our food can therefore be digested properly and smoothly only if we eat them in the correct order. The correct sequence is based on the digestion duration of each food, where those foods are eaten first, which are also digested the fastest, while difficult to digest food comes from the very end of the series.
Watermelon for dessert? Never!
Please remember, that watermelon should never be eaten as a dessert. Otherwise, there will be extreme problems with digestion - not only in the digestion of watermelon, but also in the digestion of your roast chicken that you have eaten along with fries. The watermelon would normally - if it had been eaten on an empty stomach - have been digested at the latest after half an hour. But it was not eaten until after a heavy meal of chicken and chips, she is on top now and has to wait for the chicken and the fries are digested. The watermelon has now to wait until it is his turn. It begins - as do all the fruits, if eaten in the wrong order - to ferment. Gases and alcohol are formed which leads to increased bloating, acids within our bodies and bowl cramps that serve indigestion.
To detox and fight constipation - Eat a slice of watermelon as a very first breakfast, always and without any exception on an empty stomach. Wait for at least 30 minutes before you have your usual breakfast. Do not combine the watermelon with other fruits. Eat them always pure by itself.
ALL YOU NEED:
for two slushies
- one quarter of a medium watermelon, frozen and cut in cubes
- 8-10 fresh mint leaves
- juice of one lime
- some organic cucumber, sliced
Slice and freeze.
Cut the watermelon in cubes and put them in the freezer until they are solid. This takes about 3-4 hours.
