This place is like a mecca for vegans.  Vegabond is actually more like a whole-food store where you can find all kinds of special groceries. Nevertheless, Vagabond is also a great place for a quick breakfast, a healthy lunch or a relaxed afternoon break with some sweet treats (all healthy!) and some hot coffee or hot cocoa.

The staff is really friendly and more than happy to help if you have any questions regarding their food, products when you seek some advice on how to become a vegan. Laura and me spent a very pleasant lunch also chatting to the staff while enjoying our food in the rather small but very cosy atmosphere of this place.

It is all vegan.

On the menu you can chose between sandwiches, wraps, salads or hearty soups. As you can see, there a plenty of vegan, raw or gluten free snacks you can chose from. Besides coffee you can drink some freshly pressed juices.

If you drop in for a afternoon tea or coffee you can enjoy a macadamia latte while snacking on some -wait for it- homemadeorganicveganglutenandsugarfree raw energy balls. Sounds tempting doesn't it?

Vegabond is like heaven for vegans, clean eaters and health conscious people. Just perfect for me! Besides a range of cook books about healty eating, their shelves are filled with healthy groceries from all over the world. They were also carrying my favourite kale chips from Australia! :) I was so surprised to find them here.

This is what we got!

I ordered a vegan Avocado and Kale salad with cashew and a tahini lime dressing! On the table they provided El Jefes salsa to spice it up. Perfect for me, because I like it spicy!

For drinks Laura had one of those lovely Pukka teas and I ordered their so called special 'hot recharge'. This is practically a hot lemon and apple cider vinegar with grated ginger and a bit of agave sirup. Delicious!

For satisfying our sweet tooth we got two raw date and coconut bliss balls with goji berries.

Healthy food = happy girls! I always say, you are what you eat.

If you eat good you feel good and naturally shine from inside.

Vegabond is 'klein aber fein' = small but unique. It is located in a lovely corner of Amsterdam overlooking one of many beautiful canals of the city.

The food is awesome, so tasty and fresh. It is a welcoming spot for anyone as I am more than convinced that also non-vegans and non-veggies will love their food products and dishes.

Eat. Share. Live. This is their mantra.

SLA believes in fresh organic and tasty food. SLA uses poultry, meats, eggs and dairy which are only 100% organic. Their fruits and vegetables are also organic. They try to source local and offer seasonal greens.

Laura and me decided to visit Amsterdams beautiful Jordaan district and go for lunch at SLA.

The Concept

SLA is pretty much a Do-it-yourself store. You have the freedom of choice. You can choose between leafy greens, veggies and roots as well as sprinkles and seeds. Have it garnished with your favourite fresh toppings and homemade dressings.

You can  build your own salads according to your unique taste or you can simply opt for one of the pre-set-salads.

On SLAs menu you can choose from hearty and healthy salads, juices, teas, soups and snacks.

On the salad menu you find a large variety of fresh options like roasted mushrooms, fennel, kale, quinoa, beans and sprouts as well as healthy yummy toppings.  Besides salads you can pick seasonal vegan soups like Indian Dahl Soup, Broccoli or Mushroom soup. They also have vegan and raw desserts. You can choose from homemade cheesecakes, cocoa brownies and bliss balls. On the drinks menu you have the choice of plenty of lose leaf teas, freshly pressed juices as well as coconut water, locally brewed beer and organic wines.

We ordered a baby spinach salad with quinoa, tomatoes, green beans with little vegan black bean burgers and topped with pecans and hazelnuts. Dressed with a emulsion of   soy yoghurt, avocado, poppy seed, coriander and lime. So delicious and so healthy!

See yourself :)

Make your own - just like at home

Just a free of the tea choices.

Pick your favourite loose leaf tea. They taste so much better than the packaged tea bags.

I loved the tea bar where I made myself a nice Japanese Sencha Green Tea.

All you can drink. Help your self to some cucumber infused water.

A very simple, white and clean design. A lot of light and space to eat and enjoy. There are a few seats at the window downstairs and bigger seating area upstairs. For lager groups there is one big table in the back and a couple of smaller tables facing the bright window front. You will enjoy a relaxed atmosphere with nicely decorated plants and wooden furniture.

At SLA you can eat on or take away. It is THE salad place in Amsterdam. It will never get boring as you can build your own salad.  SLA is a great option for someone craving a healthy meal at a reasonable price, and even better for someone on the go.
